- * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
- * 2 teaspoons matcha powder
- * 1/4 cup hot water not boiling
- * 1 1/2 cups milk dairy or plant-based
- * 1 cup ice cubes
- * 2 tablespoons whipped cream optional
- * 2 fresh strawberries sliced, for garnish
Add the chopped strawberries to a small bowl or glass.
Add the sugar, honey, or maple syrup, then mash the strawberries with a fork until juicy and slightly chunky.
Stir in the vanilla extract if using.
Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove clumps.
Add the hot water and whisk until the matcha is smooth and lightly foamy.
Divide the mashed strawberries between two serving glasses.
Add ice cubes to each glass.
Pour the milk over the strawberry layer.
Slowly pour the whisked matcha over the milk to create a layered look.
