Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 3 cups strawberries hulled and sliced
  • * 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • * 1/3 cup sugar honey, or maple syrup
  • * 1 cup cold water
  • * 3 cups ice cubes
  • * 1 teaspoon lemon zest optional
  • * Fresh mint optional for garnish
  • * Lemon slices or strawberry slices optional for garnish

Instructions

  • Add the cold water and fresh lemon juice to a blender.
  • Add the strawberries, sweetener, and lemon zest if using.
  • Add the ice cubes on top.
  • Blend until smooth, icy, and slushy.
  • Taste and adjust the flavor. Add more sweetener if it is too tart, or more lemon juice if you want a stronger lemonade flavor.
  • Pour immediately into chilled glasses.
  • Garnish with fresh mint, lemon slices, or strawberry slices if desired.
  • Serve right away while cold and frosty.

Notes

* You can use fresh or frozen strawberries. Frozen strawberries will make the slushie thicker and frostier.
* Swap sugar with honey, maple syrup, or your preferred sweetener.
* Add more ice for a thicker slushie or more cold water for a thinner drink.
* Do not overblend, or the ice may melt and make the texture watery.
* Store leftovers in a covered freezer-safe container. Reblend with a splash of cold water or lemon juice before serving.
* For a make-ahead option, blend the strawberries, lemon juice, sweetener, and water, then freeze. Blend with ice when ready to serve.
* For a fizzy variation, replace part of the cold water with sparkling water and stir it in after blending.
